Level 2  Sacrifices

If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger, and malicious talk. (Isaiah 58:9)

The 2nd level of the Melchizedek priesthood starts out with a sacrifice that is done inwardly – not for others.  Another version says: “If you remove the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness”

Now let me translate this from the Hebrew,

“If you behead (cut away) the heavy bands by severing between them, these being: 1. The casting forth of the finger in condemnation towards others,  2. The speaking, declaring, and teaching of idolatrous philosophy, mindless chatter, fruitless or wicked speech”

In other words – let the Holy Spirit control your tongue!

Level 2 Works

And if you give yourself to the hungry, and satisfy the desire of the afflicted (Isaiah 58;10)

This is about caring for two classes of people —the starving and the tormented. The word “afflicted” means tormented by self, or others. This is ministry to the abandoned. The works that we do on this level must be beyond ourselves, to take care of the emotionally needy and the inwardly tormented. Since level two is about inner straightening, so also, those to be cared for on this level will have inner soul problems. There is even more to explore in that word “give ourselves”. That word means a unified effort.  Level two is about a corporate effort. We must join, start, and come together to help organizations that do this. We must see that these debilitating needs are met.

Level 2 Blessings

Then shall your light rise in darkness, and your gloom will become like midday. (Isaiah 58:11)

An amplified reading would be;

Then shall your luminousness rise in darkness, destruction, death, misery, wickedness, sorrow, and obscurity.

And your gloominess and misfortune be as the noonday,

And the Lord shall guide you continually

And fill to satisfaction your soul in drought.

You shall be like a soaked, drunken, hedged garden,

And like a gushing water vein whose waters fail not!

Oh, so many blessings for our inner straightening, and for our care of the hungry and afflicted.

Level 2  The Works Of Salvation

I believe that a company of level 2 saints who are called to this special work. Perhaps it will be for those who rule and reign with Jesus, since these are restorative works that have to do with foundations.

And they that shall be of thee shall:

Build the old waste places,

Thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations;

And thou shalt be called, the repairer of the breach,

The restorer of paths to dwell in. (Is 58:12)

1. They shall build the old waste places:

The Hebrew word banah (1129) means: to build, to begin to build, obtain children, make, repair and set.

I believe that the waste places consist of everything that came under the dominion of sin at the fall of Adam. Today, these would be the institutions (social, governmental and religious), which control the masses of humanity. We will represent this rebuilding by the word—-

REGENERATION – giving back life to something that has died.

2. You shall raise up the foundations of many generations:

The Hebrew word for raise is quwm (6965) it is a primary root meaning to rise. This refers to the foundations of the Kingdom of God.

Many generations will be supported on this foundation.

We will represent this by the word:

RESTORATION – recovering a former state that has been lost.

3. And you shall be called the repairer of the breach:

The Hebrew word for repairer is gadar (140), a primary root meaning to wall in or around; to dose up, fence up, hedge, make up (a wall), mason, repairer. These people will repair the broken places. These cracks and splits can be between people groups, institutions, physical places, or individuals. This is truly a priestly ministry represented by the word:

RECONCILIATION – bringing back into harmony those who are at odds with one another.

4. The restorer of paths to dwell in:

The Hebrew word for restorer is shuwb (7725) also a primary root meaning; to turn back (not necessarily to the starting point), to retreat.  It can mean: to call to mind, to deliver, go back home, recover.

This concerns those called to turn many souls to the righteous paths of living. There are many Christian ministries and Churches called to this work of the restoration of righteous ways. It will be represented by the word:

REDEMPTION –

leading to freedom, those, who have gone into slavery.

Summary: The Works of Salvation:

Regeneration, Restoration, Reconciliation, Redemption
