Comparison
Melchizedeck/Jesus Christ
A comparison of
Melchizedek and Jesus Christ as to:
Ancestry, Names, Kingdoms,
Priesthood., Gifts & Sacrifices, Blessings, Tithes
NAMES
- Melchizedek
Melchizedek King of Righteousness - King of
Peace
As I trace back the Melchi part of the name
of Melchizedek to the primary Hebrew root - #4427 - it means: To reign; to
ascend the throne; to induct into royalty; hence by impl. to take council;
be (make, set a, setup) king, be (make) queen, (begin to, make to) reign.
The second part Tsedeq #6664 - is in meaning
- the right (naturally, morally, legally); also euqlity/prosperity that
which is altogether just; right cause, rightly, rightness, righteous. The
primary Hebrew root (tsadaq 663) of the word tsedeq means to be made right;
to cleanse, clear self; be or do justice; (be, turn to) righteousness.
If you have gotten through that, we can then
say Melchizedek means:
To ascend the throne and begin to reign as
king of righteousness or
as king of those who turn to be made right;
that walk in cleanness to do justice.
Psalm 89:14 Righteousness
and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Mercy and truth go before
Your face.
Psalm 97:2 Clouds and
darkness surround Him; Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His
throne.
Isaiah 6-1 In the year
that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted
up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.
This throne is nothing less than that of the
heavenly Father's, of which it is written in Psalm 89:14
Justice
and judgments are the habitation of thy throne.
This word justice in Psalm 89:14 is the same
word tsedeq
from Melchizedek.!
Judgment in Psalm 89:14 comes from:
#4941 mishpat - a verdict, pronounced
judicially, divine law, judgment, just
This shows us that in the name Melchizedek,
are the very qualities of the throne of God. How high then is this
priesthood of which Melchizedek was a priest and the namesake? The New
Testament book of Hebrews Chapter 7, expounds on this priesthood. Please
take time to read it.
His Rulership
Melchizedek was the King of the city of
Salem. Let's explore the meaning of this word Salem.
#8003 shalem - from 7999; complete
(lit. or fig.); espec. friendly: just,
made ready, peaceable perfect
(-ed), quiet, Shalem [by mistake for a name], whole.
This same word is used in Psalm 76:1,2.
In Judah God is known; His
name is great in Israel. In
Salem
also is His tabernacle, and His dwelling place in Zion.
Romans 5:1,2 Therefore,
having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our
Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace
in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Colossians 1:19,20 For it
pleased the Father that in Him (Christ) all the fullness should dwell, and
by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, whether things on earth or things
in heaven, having made peace through the blood of
His cross.
1. Shalem was always used in salutations.
2. It was in the angelic salutation at
Christ's birth;
Peace
on earth good will towards men.
3. God Himself is the author of peace.
Isaiah 45-71 form the light
and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the Lord,
do all these things.
II Corinthians 14:33 For God
is not the author of confusion but of peace
as in all the churches of
the saints.
4. It is one of the 9 fruits of the Holy
Spirit in a believer's life.
Galatians 5:22,23 But the
fruit of the Spirit is
love, joy, peace,
longsuffering, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness,
gentleness, self-control.
Against such there is no
law.
5. Peace came through the reconciling work
of Christ.
Isaiah 53:5 But He was
wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our
iniquities;
The chastisement for our
peace was upon Him,
and by His stripes we are
healed.
Peace reigns in the world, like this:

We now understand that Melchizedek's name
represents the throne of God, and his rulership is one of peace, which Rom.
14:17 tells us is the
Kingdom of God itself.
Roman 14:17 for the kingdom
of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in
the Holy Spirit.
